“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers.” 3 Jn. 2 AMPC

“ As we put our focus on Him, we will find the strength to thrive and flourish.”
I was cleaning recently and decided to finally trash a dried plant sitting on our water dispenser in a shaded corner of the room. As I picked it up, I stood in amazement. Though the base leaves appeared dry, a beautiful pink orchid had stretched up through the blinds and was blooming-undetected and hindered in the sunlight.
That little plant spoke volumes to me. There, in the dark corner, that plant did not shrivel up. It did not die. Resiliently it reached out beyond its confinement. That plant reached out – beyond the shadows and beyond the obstacle of the blinds to the light where it would flourish.
It’s easy in these times to get overwhelmed by the pervasive darkness in our world and become weary, but what Jesus, our King and the Lion of Judah, is calling us to do today is to get the courage to reach out! He is calling us to look beyond our weariness, push away from the noise and reach out to Him as the Light of the World. As we put our focus on Him, we will find the strength to thrive and flourish. “It is in Him that we live, and move and have our being.”(Acts 17:28)
The word “prosper” in 3 John 2 means to “succeed in your reaching.” It’s God’s desire for us to have success in what we reach for; however, the question is what are we reaching for? Is it His Word, His will and His way, or is it what the world has told us to reach for? Today, let us choose to reach for our loving Savior, Jesus and walk in the light of His truth.
Prayer: Father, I choose today to reach for You. I choose to look beyond my situation and circumstances. I choose to reach beyond who the world says I am and what my future is. May the light of Your truth, hope, and love flood my heart and give me a divine view of Your perspective in Jesus’ name.
