“Nothing in all creation can separate us from God’s love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord!” Romans 8:39 CEV

” To fill the space between, God had to give up His most priceless possession-His only Son.“
The rules of social engagement have been redefined. The culture of how we operate socially is shifting, and there are areas that may never be the same again. While I am emphatically grateful for technology and its capacity to connect us, there is an inner ache I just can’t seem to shake. It’s a longing to drive down the road and hug my parents and grandma. It’s a longing to gather with my family and friends at church. While virtual hugs, high fives and gatherings are great, there is absolutely no comparison to the real deal.
This feeling of separation that distancing brings is, on a surface level, something similar to what God must have felt at the fall of mankind. The entrance of sin in the garden of Eden brought instantaneous distance between God and man. From that very moment, He set out to close the gap.
It cost God everything to be close to His children again. To fill the space between, God had to give up His most priceless possession-His only Son. Jesus endured a horrific death, taking our sins and suffering for the first time the separation from God that sin brings. On the cross Jesus cried, “Oh God, why have You forsaken me?”
However, Hebrews 12:2 TPT says this, “Because his heart was focused on the joy of knowing that you would be His, He endured the agony of the cross and conquered its humiliation”
For Jesus, the joy of gaining us back outweighed the suffering. And this time, God wasn’t content to simply walk with the children He loves. No, now He could dwell within them. How’s that for alleviating social distance?
God doesn’t want a void between you and Him. Your Heavenly Father doesn’t want to be a distant observer. He earnestly desires and longs to be an active participant in your life, but God’s a gentleman. He won’t barge into your life. He’s waiting patiently… eagerly for you to ask Him.
