Repair, Renew, Restore

“ ..the God of all loving grace, who has called you to share in his eternal glory in Christ, will personally and powerfully restore you and make you stronger than ever. Yes, he will set you firmly in place and build you up”1 Peter 5:10 TPT

” Jesus is still in the business of creating, repairing, renewing and restoring.”

Jesus had just returned to his hometown of Nazareth after performing great miracles in Capernaum. On the Sabbath, he went to teach in the synagogue. The people there reacted with astonishment, marveling at his wisdom and his deep knowledge of the scriptures. They declared, “Where did he receive such profound insights? And what mighty miracles flow through his hands! Isn’t this Mary’s son, the carpenter…?” Mark 6:2-3.

Most would have expected the people of Nazareth to embrace Jesus as their hometown hero, welcoming him as both healer and King. Instead of responding to Jesus as the Anointed One, they could not see beyond the carpenter boy who grew up there, and they became offended. Because of their unbelief, Jesus was unable to perform many miracles there.

A carpenter by definition is a person who makes and repairs wooden objects and structures. They create, repair, renew and restore items.  What the people of Nazareth could not see, was that Jesus was actually doing a restorative work. He had just exchanged wood for the wounded. The hands that had repaired broken tables, was now healing broken bodies and hearts, and restoring lives.

Jesus is still in the business of creating, repairing, renewing and restoring. This same carpenter King laid down his own life to give us renewed hope and eternal life. The Bible says that He “..will personally and powerfully restore you and make you stronger than ever.” If you feel broken today, Jesus is your repairer. If you’ve lost something, He will restore. If  life has lost its luster, He is able to renew it, if only you will entrust these things into His loving hands.

Prayer:

Jesus, I need you to repair, renew and restore me. I trust my life to Your capable hands.
