“So, if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ-that’s where the action is. See things from [His] perspective. “ Colossians 3:1-2 AMPC

“ ..the problem becomes bigger than God’s Promise to us when our focus is on negative situations and the enemy who was designed to be under our feet.”
I was driving along one day and as I stopped at a stoplight a man happened to be walking on the crosswalk. He captured my attention and my heart was stirred. Due to a physical defect, this gentleman appeared to be permanently bent over-as if weighted down- to the point that his only view was the asphalt below him. As his feet shuffled laboriously across the crosswalk, I was acutely aware that each step was a struggle. Sitting there as an observer, I just wanted to see that man be able to raise up and look up. I began praying for him as the traffic light suddenly turned green. I drove away, still in prayer and realized that we can look like this spiritually.
When we allow the trials and hardships in our lives to weigh us down, it changes our perspective. No longer able to look up, our outlook is governed by our shuffling feet and the ground beneath them as we trudge along. In other words, the problem becomes bigger than God’s Promise to us when our focus is on negative situations and the enemy who was designed to be under our feet. The only way to shift our focus is to change our perspective by taking our eyes off the situation and problems around us, and directing our gaze to our loving Savior-Jesus. Psalm 121: 1 encourages us to “look to the hills from which comes our help” and states that our “help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”
If you are tempted to allow your problems to overwhelm you, shift your focus by remembering who you are and Whose you are. You are the son or daughter of Almighty God who is greater than anything. Begin to look up.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I trust you and look to you today. I make a conscious choice to believe Your promises for me over this situation. I leave my problems at your feet today, and I won’t pick them back up. I put my faith and hope in You, Mighty God!
