In All Your Ways

“Trust in Adonai with all your heart; do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him; then he will level your paths.” Proverbs 3:6 CJB

”  Ultimately, it’s leaning into God for the little things that lead to a life of surrender under His Lordship.”

Proverbs encourages us to “trust in the Lord with all of our hearts.” It later says that we should acknowledge Him in all our “ways.” This morning, as I was reading another scripture the term “in all your ways” stood out to me. What exactly are our “ways?” I thought.

The Hebrew word for “ways” in this scripture is “derek” which means  “a road,  a course of life or mode of action.” It also means ” a pathway.” In other words, in all of our courses of action (our life decisions and daily decisions), we need to acknowledge God. This is the epitome of trusting in the Lord, when we allow Him to govern and have a voice in our everyday affairs. Ultimately, it’s leaning into God for the little things that lead to a life of surrender under His Lordship.

The scripture I was reading this morning that lead to this word study was Psalm 91 verse 11 which says: “For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways…..” The moment I read this, Proverbs 3:6 came to my mind. You have probably already guessed what the correlation is. The word “ways” here is “derek” as well! God has given his angels a command to keep you, accompany you, defend and preserve you in your course of life. Our responsibility is simply  to put our trust in God and allow Him to do what He so earnestly desires to do by letting Him lead. You don’t have to be concerned about missing the mark or being in the wrong place. God Himself will insure that you are always in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing and under His protection. So, trust Him in all your ways.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I declare that You are Lord and sovereign over my life today and always. You are Lord over my decisions, over my family and all that I own and my life. Thank you for giving me right happenings and for Your supernatural protection over us. I trust You in all my ways.
