Your Inner GPS

“Trust in the Lord completely, and do not rely on your own opinions. With all your heart rely on him to guide you, and he will lead you in every decision you make.” Proverbs 3:5 TPT

If we trust Him, the direct result will be that God will provide you guidance in every decision.”

One spring we had journeyed out of town for a wedding, and found ourselves in the middle of a thunderstorm on what our family has termed “The Spaghetti Bowl.” Let me define this word. A Spaghetti Bowl is a conglomeration of winding and twisting highways within a city. For those of you who live in or near a large city, you understand that one wrong turn or a missed turn can send you an hour in the wrong direction. On this particular day, I am assuming it was due to the poor weather, we kept getting the telltale swirling circle and “rerouting” or “make a u-turn” notification on our GPS. Eventually, my husband began to get his bearings and his internal GPS (also known as the Holy Spirit) kicked in. We arrived at the wedding ahead of schedule.

Sometimes, our lives can feel like that Spaghetti Bowl- a mix of twists and turns that leave us not knowing which way is up. Like the misdirected GPS, if we put our trust in ourselves or in others to lead us in the right direction, we may end up misguided and routed well away from our true destinies and God’s best for our lives. Proverbs says that we should “…not rely on our own opinions” but to rely on God to be our guide. When we do this, the promise is that He “will lead you in every decision you make.” That word “will” is a definite word. The scripture doesn’t say God “might” lead you, or He “may consider” leading you. It says if we trust Him, the direct result will be that God will provide you guidance in every decision.

If you are feeling confused today, you don’t have to continue in confusion. You have a choice. Choose to trust in God today, and give Him the right to guide you in every decision. You will make your way out of those twists and turns and soon find yourself on the straight road leading to your life of victory!
